The idea behind this work is to explore the magical forms of the minor gesture in response to time, site, audience and its relationship to themes within care, ableism and posthumanism. The notion behind the minimal form aims to look at vulnerability as a radical act and performatively celebrate limitations within the body. The exhibition at the Intermedia Gallery at the CCA will mark the beginning of the three-month-long The Performance Café artist network, which will see Jones create and lead a peer support group for both un-abled and abled artists. Performances and exhibition The performances will be durational and will last approximately 7 hours between the 11th of May and the 14th of May. https://gemmajonesperformance.cargo.site/When-I-think-of-the-river-I-think-of-you When I think about the river, I think of you, 1 hour Live Site Specific Performance Virtual Twin,&nbsp;Art House Worpswede, Germany is a new performance by VIRTUAL TWIN where we propose to exhibit an expanded site specific performance inspired by our recent virtual residency at Lunchtime Gallery, Glasgow (01.01.2021 - 31.03.2021) which will be archived in the form of a experimental video or audio tbc. Our idea is to explore the ‘technological bodies of water’ between two physical bodies from one geographical anchor to another. Through performative scores reflecting themes of hydrofeminism, care, community, remoteness, ableism and imagination. At a time of our choosing which enables accessibility for both bodies we intend to code and script each other's movements via a live audio device. Our performance score to each other will be created in direct relation to our immediate surroundings and will be made up of a mixture of improvisation and pre researched thoughts, tasks and words. These vocal scores will therefore induce movement and gestures in the respective other twin. Both VIRTUAL TWIN Y and X become interconnected to discover image based vocabularies driven by the voice and instructions of one another. This leads to the exploration of the humanisation of HydroFeminism where in this case it has become a strategy that connects: hardware to the body, nature to the body and finally the two separate bodies. Through this performance we aim to not only connect ourselves, but also our environment around us. As we both often work site-specifically, we have chosen to propose this performance specifically for Kunstler Worpswede. This is because during our research residency earlier this year Virtual Twin X spent February at the Kunsthäuser Worpswede. The idea behind this piece is to explore the magical forms of the minor gesture in response to time, site, audience and its relationship to themes within care, ableism and posthumanism. The concept behind the minimal form aims to look at vulnerability as a radical act and performatively celebrate limitations within the body. This allows us to look at the body's language in an alternative way; in a bid to rethink how it is felt, visualised and performed.&nbsp; The performance will start on ‘abled time’ which means there is flexibility between the opening and closing hours of the event. &nbsp;This minimal action intends to be explored throughout the duration of the piece and challenge ‘Undoing of ‘chrononormativity time’ through the celebration of the non-abled body. As the performance proceeds, this task will take form in the moment and applaud the power of resting, brain fog as Jones allows us to enter her own form of language and time. The gestures will move at their own time period, flow through the body and into the surrounding nature. Performance artist Gemma Jones recreates this process in relation to her body by investigating the materiality of time, energy, movement and current experiences of prolonged physical pain by responding to essay Tableaux Vivants: Inside the Statue’ by artist and writer: Dr Aura Satz. Through slowness, recognition, and repetition, a series of recollections of body movements from previous live performances are re-enacted, repurposed and transformed. This performance focuses on the power of slowness causing the audience to be drawn into the meditative state of the performer, gaining awareness of their bodies, where they can become interconnected with each other. By using metal tubes, viscose sequins and the body as a site, the two performers uncover relationships between liquidity, hardware and body. As moving sculptures they aim to dribble, explore and slow down as these materials leak into each body creating a liquid and tentacular environment. In a world tinged with a controlling algorithmic score depicted as an unknown virus they represent the messy and entangled possibilities in the liquidity of technology -where the audience is quietly led to a place where terms like nature/other/us become sticky and damp. During the performance quantified information travels through vessels and hardware is seduced soothing the tubes inside of each of us. Furthermore The bodies use Touch as a way of not only about gathering information, but connecting us to our environment, where webs of intimacies then lead to more bodies of water. <img width="2736"
